Public Holiday : After the long Dussehra and Diwali vacations, schools, colleges, and offices have reopened. Now people are waiting for the next holiday. Let us tell you that the wait is almost over—on 24 November 2025, the entire nation will observe Guru Tegh Bahadur Shaheedi Divas with devotion and respect. On this occasion, several states have declared a public holiday.

States including Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Uttarakhand have issued official notifications for the holiday. Schools, banks, and government offices will remain closed on this day. Special religious programs will be organized in Gurudwaras across the country. In Uttar Pradesh, all government and private schools, colleges, and educational institutions will also remain closed.

Two Days of Public Holiday

Since Guru Tegh Bahadur Shaheedi Divas falls on a Monday, students will get a two-day break.

  • 23 November (Sunday) – Weekly holiday
  • 24 November (Monday) – Public holiday

With these two consecutive holidays, schools will remain closed for the entire weekend. Ministry offices, government departments, courts, municipal corporations, and local bodies will also remain shut on November 24.

Banks Will Also Remain Closed

The RBI Holiday Calendar 2025 also mentions this holiday. According to it, banks will remain closed in several states, including Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Chandigarh, and Jammu & Kashmir.
On 24 November, customers will not be able to avail cash transactions, cheque clearance, or most offline banking services. People are advised to complete important banking tasks by 22 November.
