Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana : To provide financial support to women in the country and take care of their health during pregnancy, the Modi government is running several schemes. One of the most important among them is the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY). This scheme provides financial assistance to pregnant women so that proper care can be taken of both the mother and the baby.
If you are pregnant or know someone who is going to become a mother for the first time, this information is very important for you. Under this scheme, the government transfers up to ₹11,000 directly into the woman’s bank account. If you have not taken advantage of this scheme yet, you may be missing out on a big support.
What is Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY)?
The Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana is a flagship scheme of the Central Government for pregnant and lactating women. Its objective is to strengthen the health, nutrition, and care of women during pregnancy and after childbirth by providing them financial assistance, so that both the mother and the child remain healthy.
Under this scheme, the amount is transferred directly to the bank account of the beneficiary through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Who receives ₹11,000?
The amount under the scheme is provided in two parts:
1. ₹5,000 for the first child
This amount is given in three installments:
- First installment: At the time of pregnancy registration
- Second installment: After completing the required health check-ups
-
Third installment: After submitting the child’s birth certificate and vaccination record
This money is meant to support proper nutrition, medical check-ups, rest, and other essential healthcare needs during pregnancy.
2. Extra ₹6,000 if the second child is a girl
If a woman gives birth to a girl child as her second child, the government provides an additional assistance of ₹6,000. In this way, the total support reaches up to ₹11,000.
