The Pillion Rider Must Also Wear a Helmet
For your information, Maharashtra Traffic Police has introduced a new rule for two-wheelers. According to this rule, not only the person driving the vehicle must wear a helmet, but the person sitting behind (pillion rider) is also required to wear a helmet.
Now, there will be two separate categories in the e-challan machine — one for the rider and one for the pillion rider. If neither of them is wearing a helmet, both will have to pay a heavy fine, and separate challans will be issued to both individuals. If the rider and the person sitting behind are not wearing helmets, each of them will be fined ₹1000. This rule is applicable to both children and adults.
