Bank Holiday : If you have any bank-related work in the month of December, it is advisable to plan it in advance. Just like every month, banks will remain closed on several days in December as well. Therefore, it will be better for you to check the holiday calendar and plan accordingly. According to the holiday calendar released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks will remain closed for a total of 19 days in December 2025. However, these holidays will not apply across the entire country. On some days, banks will be closed in certain states, while they will remain open in others.

25 December – National Holiday

On the occasion of Christmas, banks will remain closed across the country. This is the only national holiday in the month of December. Most of the remaining holidays are limited to the North-Eastern states and Goa. In December, banks will remain closed the most in cities such as Shillong, Kohima, Gangtok, Aizawl and Imphal. Banking Services During Holidays

Even when banks are closed, your work will continue without interruption. You can use net banking, mobile banking, UPI, ATMs, and debit/credit cards for your transactions. However, services such as cheque clearing and counter services will remain suspended on these days. You can still transfer money using NEFT and IMPS. Therefore, it is better to prepare and plan your banking activities for December in advance.
