School Holiday : Martyrdom Day of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji on 24 November
In Sikh history, Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji holds a highly revered place due to his extraordinary courage and commitment to protecting religious freedom. Known as Hind Di Chadar (Protector of India), the ninth Sikh Guru sacrificed his life in 1675 not only for his own faith but also for safeguarding the beliefs of those who belonged to a different religion. His martyrdom at Chandni Chowk in Delhi, in protest against the atrocities of Aurangzeb, is remembered as a significant chapter in Indian history. Gurudwaras across the country hold paath, kirtan, nagar kirtan, and special religious events to commemorate his life, teachings, and unparalleled bravery.
